Sue Green Baker is one of the nation’s leading serger experts. Recently she completed a tour of our 5 B-Sew Inn locations teaching a 3-day, hands on serger class. Between all the fun, we were able to learn a few of Sue’s favorite finds at our stores.
Floriani Micro Thread
In the image below, the top rose is stitched with standard embroidery thread. The bottom rose is stitched using Floriani’s 60wt Micro Thread. Just look at the difference in the detail of the rose!
This micro-thin polyester thread beautifully defines stitching and embellishment. It is ideal for fine or micro embroidery on delicate fabrics as well as very small lettering, scroll work and lace. Small lettering has never been so BIG! You will be amazed at the detail each stitch reveals using this high sheen – high tensile strength embroidery thread. No clumping or bunching when micro-stitching letter fonts and/or motifs.
Sue recommends all 3 sets of the Floriani Micro Thread:

Vacuum tool set
We all know we’re not supposed to use canned air to clean our machines, so what should we use? Vacuum attachments! These handy vacuum attachments are tiny enough to get into the cracks of your sewing machines, but capable of attaching to your standard vacuum.
The best part — they’re a steal at only $9.99!
Freestyle Iron
Advice from Sue: Don’t ever use a hotel iron. You never know who’s used it to make a grilled cheese!
Invest in a great portable iron for attending classes, trade shows, vacations, and events. The Panasonic Freestyle Iron is Sue’s choice for ironing on the go. She loves that both ends are pointed (great for pleats!), it’s lightweight, cordless, and comes with a case!
